While our world-class fishing and extraordinary shooting sports complex draw the most visitors each year, the Piney Valley Ranch also provides many other recreation opportunities. Cast And Blast For those of you who can’t decide between fishing and shooting, try both! Our Cast and Blast features a half day wade fishing trip on our private water followed by an Instructional Shooting Clinic at our famous Shooting Sports Complex. What could be better? A morning spent on a beautiful stretch of river and an afternoon filled with the excitement of breaking clay targets with a shotgun!

Overnight Packages

Backcountry Yurts: Starry, moonlit nights and the soft glow of a crackling fire are what Colorado mountain dreams are made of. To experience this, stay on the river in our very comfortable yurts. These hard-sided tents are constructed on wooden floors and are furnished with all the comforts of home. Roll out of bed to fish the Piney River or ride horseback to one of our high alpine lakes.

Homestyle Lodge: If modern conveniences are more your style, stay at our roomy home-style lodge that will accommodate up to six people. From here, the choices are yours… fish, shoot, ride horses, go on a wildlife photography tour, or just enjoy the views of Castle Peak from the back porch. Both packages include the services of a private chef and a variety of menu options to satisfy your tastes.

The Piney Valley Ranch is home to an abundant variety of wildlife species. On a given day, you may see elk and mule deer feeding peacefully on open hillsides or predators such as bears, foxes, and coyotes hunting for their next meal. Horseback Riding

In addition to a full day fishing trip or for a breathtaking view of Colorado, let our experienced guides take you on a wilderness horseback ride. This is not your classic nose-to-tail trail ride. Our surefooted mountain horses will carry you through lush pastures, deep forests, and return you safely back again.

Showshoeing

With thousands of acres of private ranch land at our fingertips, our guides will take you on a round trip hike with a chance to see wildlife and learn about winter in Colorado. Enjoy the crisp, clean air and a blanket of fresh mountain snow as you explore the backcountry. This trip will leave you refreshed and excited to come back.

Grouse Hunting

Blue Grouse are considered by many to be “mountain chickens” because of their tendency to sit still and let danger pass. However, with a hard working dog and an experienced guide, blue grouse hunting can be one of the most challenging and rewarding wing shooting adventures.

Coyote Hunting

Part of our multiple use management plan allows for assisting wildlife populations by keeping coyote numbers in check. Help the ranch meet its objectives by booking a coyote hunt.
